About the event

Intro  to Portrait Sculpture:  Have you ever wondered if you can create beautiful figurative sculpture ?  

Come join figurative sculptor David Van Zandt* for a two weekend  workshop and explore your talents !  

Modeling the human head to create a likeness: 

Two all day Saturday and Sunday sessions including optional open studio  time following class. 

Learn how to navigate the anatomical topography of the head while working from a live model at Van Zandt's wonderful Washougal studio.  

Discover how to engage the creative brilliance inside you to create a  clay portrait while referring to a live model.  

$475 includes materials and model fees.  

Tuition should be paid in full by April 19th

One half deposit due upon registration.  

Participants are encouraged to register early as class is limited to 10  in order to provide ample personal instruction as needed.

Schedule: 

Two consecutive weekends:  

Saturday April 20th 10 to 4 

and 

Sunday April 21st 10 to 4  Saturday April 27th 10 to 4 and Sunday April 28th 10 to 4  

Saturday participants may come earlier or stay later, or both.  

Open to all levels. 

Absolute beginners encouraged to participate !  

Wear clothes that can get dirty.

Bring a bag lunch and your water bottle and any snacks you want.

Bring a measuring tape, notebook and pencil or pen.

*David has been making sculpture since the mid 1960s . He attended  College of Creative Studies at UC Santa Barbara with emphasis on  printmaking, sculpture and bronze foundry practice. He later attended  Gage Academy.  He currently resides in Washougal WA with his partner Yvonne and their 2  rescue cats Arnold and Poppy.
